About Pickup Rescue: Pickup Rescue is a missed-call text-back service for independent plumbing businesses in Utah, run by Joseph Overson (sole proprietor) in Parowan, Utah. When a customer calls a participating plumbing business and the call goes unanswered, Pickup Rescue sends that caller one text on the business's behalf asking how it can help, and alerts the plumber. We do not send marketing messages.

When you can't answer, your customer gets a text in seconds.

Most people who reach a plumber's voicemail don't leave a message. They call the next name on the list. Pickup Rescue texts them for you, asks what's wrong, and sends you the details.

For independent plumbing companies in Utah. Set up for you. You keep your number. No contract.

Hi, this is Smith Plumbing (example). Sorry we missed your call. What's going on, and is it urgent (active leak, flooding, no water) or can it wait? Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.
Water heater is leaking in the garage
Thanks, marked URGENT. Mike has been alerted and will contact you as soon as possible.
Your phone: URGENT. Missed-call reply from 801-555-0142: "Water heater is leaking in the garage". Text that number to answer.

How it works

One setup call. After that it runs in the background.

1

You miss a call

You're under a sink or on a roof. The call forwards to your Pickup Rescue number only when you don't answer or you're busy.

2

They get a text, you get an alert

The caller is asked what's going on and whether it's urgent. You get their number and their reply on your cell, with urgent ones flagged.

3

You answer, or it follows up

Reply from your own phone. If you haven't, you get a reminder at 15 minutes, and the caller gets one short "still working on it" text at 45.

After-hours wording

Evenings and weekends get a different message, and urgent ones are flagged so you decide whether to roll.

Monthly report

Missed calls, texts sent, replies, urgent ones, and an estimated value of the jobs recovered. It's labeled as an estimate, not revenue.

No spam, ever

It only texts people who just called you. No marketing, no lists. If anyone replies STOP, they're never texted again.

"Can't I just use my voicemail greeting?"

Fair question. Here's the honest answer.

VoicemailText-back
Does the caller have to do anything?Yes. Only about 1 in 4 callers leaves a message (20 to 28%).1No. A text lands on their screen in seconds.
What happens next? Many call the next plumber on the list while you're busy. One study of 14,354 missed calls at 192 home-service businesses found about 1 in 3 replied, and most replies came within 5 minutes.2
CostFree$97 to $197 a month
The honest part: your phone may already have a free auto-reply text. For one canned message, that works. What it doesn't do is ask what's wrong and whether it's urgent, alert you with the caller's details, follow up if you haven't answered, or report what it recovered. If you don't need those, you don't need this. Nobody should pay for something that doesn't earn its price, which is why there's a free pilot and a guarantee.

Questions

Do I keep my phone number?

Yes. Customers keep calling the number they know. Your phone forwards calls only when you don't answer or are busy.

How long does setup take?

About 20 minutes of your time: your cell number, your business name, OK on the wording, and turning on "forward if no answer or busy." I give you the exact code for your carrier and test it with you.

Who is the text from?

A separate number. The first text says "save this number." You answer by texting the caller from your own phone, or by just calling them.

Does it work with a landline?

Landlines and some VoIP systems need a different forwarding setup, and a landline caller can't receive texts. I'll tell you plainly before you pay for anything.

Is it legal to text them?

It only replies to people who just called your number, it identifies your business, and it honors STOP immediately. It never sends marketing messages.

Who's behind this?

Joseph Overson, in Parowan, Utah. This is a small, new service, and the first three shops get the founding price. I'm happy to show you the demo before you decide anything.
